Have you heard the news this morning about kids exercise dropping off at age 7?
Does it make you reflect on your own fitness levels . . . or have you already got fitbit fever?
Are you managing to get yourself a bit fit? . . . and does your working day allow any bit fit time?
At this time of year I imagine you are all looking forward to a few restful and fun family days. . .I know I am dreaming of a Happy Christmas. . . . .
. . . . stress free . . . nice dinner . . . . decent telly . . . glass of wine . . .or 3. . . . and . . . . .
(but this one is the hardest) NOT having to tell the children off for fighting with each other!!!!!!!
. . .and talking of children, now they have finished school, then it really is beginning to look like Happy Christmas at the Wild Ideas house . . . .
And again – I need to apologise for not blogging last week . . . .
. . . I have been feeling lousy with a kidney infection for the past 10 days and and not able to do anything at all . . . . .
. . . . luckily I had just completed a big project and was in between jobs so it has not had a drastic impact on my workload and I haven’t had to upset any of you lovely customers.
but now I am over the worst and although not 100% at least able to start doing a little bit I can see the light at the end of the tunnel . . . . .
. . . . and that in itself is enough for a bit of party celebration – reason number 1 . . . . .
Since my initial briefing with Anna, at Paddles swimming in the summer of 2015 . . . . the final completion of this website has been a while in coming . . . .
. . . . but I am pleased to be able to show it to you all now.
It’s a fun friendly website for swimming lessons for disabled children . . . .
. . . and it’s run by . . . . . wait for it . . . . .
What with the start of the school holidays, and trying to catch up the work before my own holiday and then the break while I was away then I don’t believe I have written a blog for almost a month. . . .
. . . maybe you have missed it ? maybe not . . . but no matter . . .
I am now back from my annual camping holiday, refreshed. . . relaxed . . . and raring to go . . . (hopefully).
After camping at the same site in Cornwall for the past three years we decided it was time to try something new . . . .
This is the story of me and my car.
It’s old . . and I have moved on. . . .
But the mileage is very low and the engine is sound.
If you are looking for a reliable motor for a first time driver – this is it.
Read on for the details.
I think there is a saying that says a healthy body equals a healthy mind? . . . . and this is the design version . . . a designer body equals a creative mind . . . .
In the good old days when I was young, free and single (ish but living with my now husband – before we got married), I was a real morning person . . . .
I used to get up at 5.15am to make pack lunches for work before my husband left for a 6am shift . . .
. . and was often bright and breezy enought to do some housework before my own work day started.
But that was 20 years ago.
As a graphic designer then whatever shape I am in, surely my body qualifies as a designer body?
However . . . . Continue reading
Do you have a need for speed . . . . like going fast? . . . . in a car? . . . . on a roller coaster . . . . a bike . . a skateboard?
. . . . . when you are designing a logo for a client . . . . . and you can’t get your idea down quickly enough . . . . . because the graphic design speed in your head is racing in front of the production speed of your computer . . . .
. . . . OK, maybe just me on that one then!
But one simple solution this week has allowed me to triple my graphic design speed. . . .
As a woman it’s kind of nice to think that there is an international women’s day to recognise how special we women are, however . . . . .
. . . . considering the fact that this just leaves men as our opposite . . . . it’s also kind of a shame that there was any necessity to create an international women’s day at all.
International women’s day has been around for 107 years. . . . as a way to highlight the plight of women . . . and focus campaigns to improve the quality of life and equality of women in society.
The fact that women are STILL not equal across a male dominated society it shameful.
. . . . that they have to have an international women’s day to try and promote their achievements / expose their plights and fight for their right (to party)
If men were not so sexist and had not looked down on “the little woman” as being insignificant . . . . or incompetent . . .
. . . . as a creature they could mis-treat . . . ignore . . . patronise . . .(add your own male prejudiced experience here).
. . . . Maybe there would be no need for an international women’s day. . . . but then . . .
the obvious thought popped into my head . . . Continue reading
It was my husbands birthday at the weekend and he decided that he would like to have a “day out in London” . . . .
To be honest when he suggested it (via email from work just 3 days beforehand) my first reaction was a bit negative . . . .
. . . .Recollection of a cold windy day . . . .wandering around London . . . lots of walking on unfamiliar streets . . . .
. . . trusting a man who has a much better sense of direction than me. . . but getting a bit fed up none the less.
. . . and that was our last trip – a weekend away about 11 years ago, during March 2005. . . . . pre-kids. . . but not really London stress free.
Maybe we could do better this time . . . .
