For a small business . . . advertising and promoting yourself is a bit of a challenge . . . there are plenty of people out there contacting you with advice on what you should be doing. . .
. . . but if you want to sell yourself well then your business has to look great . . . and if you want to guarantee a professional result then you need to know how to choose a graphic designer who you can trust. . .
. . . Is often the first question – after how much? – new potential clients will ask. . . it seems that everyone is in so much of a hurry. . .
Well, your graphic design project will take as long as you allow it to.
The assumed answer people expect is that it relates to how many other graphic design projects I have at the time . . .
which is true . . . but not as much as you would expect.
Because the real answer is:
It’s that time of year when all accountants and bookkeepers start to get really busy and some of us small business owners might go into a bit of panic depending how organised we are . . . . .
. . . Have you done your end of year accounts yet?
. . .the tax return deadline for 2015/16 year is the end of January 2017 . . .but with christmas distraction in the way, then it is easy for the time to fly by without realising. . .
. . . but Mr HMRC doesn’t care. . the deadline is the deadline. . . . Continue reading
First I want to apologise for not blogging these past 2 weeks. . . .
Half Term . . . . plus two inset days (teacher training so school closed to kids) . . . . and a busy schedule seems to have taken their toll . . . .
. . . but just about back on track, this morning I want to give a good old-fashioned shout out to my most recent client Dr Paul. . . .
thank you to her for helping Wild Ideas original graphic design to launch another Awesome Brand . . . .
. . . . . and congratulations on opening her “Elegance cosmetic clinic” today – 8th November 2016.
Since my initial briefing with Anna, at Paddles swimming in the summer of 2015 . . . . the final completion of this website has been a while in coming . . . .
. . . . but I am pleased to be able to show it to you all now.
It’s a fun friendly website for swimming lessons for disabled children . . . .
. . . and it’s run by . . . . . wait for it . . . . .
A couple of weeks ago my brilliant mac computer finally almost died on me and it was frustrating because it never lets me down . . . . .
. . . . and I was always of the policy if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. . . . but you need to be prepared (scouting taught me that) . . .
. . . and when all else fails I knew it would be OK because I know a man who can. . . .
A Naughty Bear logo is the latest unique logo design creation from Wild Ideas.
I just love designing logos . . . and just lately I have been like a unique logo design factory.
. . . . . but even with a unique logo design the process is always the same . . . .
discussion with client to get ideas . . . .
research a bit . . . . but not too much . . . keep it original . . .
then . . . doodle . . . draw . . . sketch . . . ponder . . . struggle . . . . stress . . . ok . . . . build . . . expand . . . submit initial designs. . . .
. . . . comments from clients . . . sometimes good . . . sometimes not so good . . . .
. . . . . try a bit harder . . . . persevere . . . . . make it work.
Finally hey presto everything comes together for a unique logo design.
in the end it all looks brilliant.
My creative input . . . . my wild ideas. . . . . But it would all be nothing without your inspiration . . . . Continue reading
My longest client has just celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the start of her business. . . . .
From small beginnings of just one class a week . . . . for a children’s music and activity group for pre-schoolers from birth to five. . . . .
. . . . she worked tirelessly telling all her “mummy” friends about her class to encourage the spread of her business. . . . and then came to Wild Ideas to ask about establishing some professional brand consistency. . . .
. . . and the rest is history . . . .
As with every project that I do, when I have completed it I like to dedicate a blog to share with you all the latest design achievement . . . .
. . . . which is also a great opportunity to be able to promote the services of the people that I have done the design for. . . .
. . . . sometimes it won’t appeal to everybody . . . . but on this particular occasion the lovely memory items that this lady (Miss E) is selling on her great new website could find a place in every single household. . . .
. . . and because of this great new website they are accessible to all of YOU wherever you may be . . . .
Are you familiar with that phrase “I’ll know it when I see it?”
I believe that’s what happened with a recent client of mine . . . . a really lovely individual who wanted their website redesigning.
They were also very busy working in their own business and so didn’t really have a great amount of time to speak to me . . . . .
. . . and were not totally sure about what they wanted, either. . . . a few suggestions on colours that a friend had said they should have . . .
. . .They also wanted some fantastic new wording . . . . but at the same time didn’t really feel that they needed to speak to our wonderful copywriter Gayle at G.E. copywriter either.
. . . Sadly the contract with this particular client has ended with them cancelling our design service agreement as they were unhappy with my FIRST design . . . .
. . . which is a shame, because:
A – They have paid for the work I have done but got nothing to show for it.
B – Design revisions are included within the agreed fee.
C – Your design service journey is a marathon . . . not a sprint. . .
. . . and indeed the design service can be more of an obstacle course or the hurdles . . . before we reach your finish line. . .
