Brand confidence background
We all love a good brand . . . you know that special feeling of brand confidence which wearing those Ugg boots, or toting your new iphone gives you . . .
I think it’s kind of brainwashed into our souls from childhood . . . starting from being teased at school by a “lack” of a brand . . . (in my schooldays it was trainers) . . .
. . . more recently my son got teased about not having the current Xbox console . . . and then ironically again for having the “very latest” Xbox console.
Any well-known brand oozes confidence, has perceived status and people want to be a part of it . . . so what are you going to do to get your new business on the brand confidence path?
On the back of creating some brilliant branding at excellent prices through the Wild Ideas and DBN web design Awesome branding package . . . . .
. . . . . . my latest customer has also used my flyer design services and added to her startup marketing range two thousand promotional flyers to distribute in her local area.
if you don’t tell people that you’re there then no one’s going to find you . . . . well not in a hurry anyway.
First I want to apologise for not blogging these past 2 weeks. . . .
Half Term . . . . plus two inset days (teacher training so school closed to kids) . . . . and a busy schedule seems to have taken their toll . . . .
. . . but just about back on track, this morning I want to give a good old-fashioned shout out to my most recent client Dr Paul. . . .
thank you to her for helping Wild Ideas original graphic design to launch another Awesome Brand . . . .
. . . . . and congratulations on opening her “Elegance cosmetic clinic” today – 8th November 2016.
A day in the life of a graphic designer can be really creative and fun . . .and other times it can be very frustrating . . . .
This is an insight into a recent gift voucher design and print project. . .that is now currently winging its way to the client . . .
. . but it wasn’t all plain sailing . . . well not for me anyway . . . but that’s why my clients don’t do it themselves. Continue reading
My longest client has just celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the start of her business. . . . .
From small beginnings of just one class a week . . . . for a children’s music and activity group for pre-schoolers from birth to five. . . . .
. . . . she worked tirelessly telling all her “mummy” friends about her class to encourage the spread of her business. . . . and then came to Wild Ideas to ask about establishing some professional brand consistency. . . .
. . . and the rest is history . . . .
Are you familiar with that phrase “I’ll know it when I see it?”
I believe that’s what happened with a recent client of mine . . . . a really lovely individual who wanted their website redesigning.
They were also very busy working in their own business and so didn’t really have a great amount of time to speak to me . . . . .
. . . and were not totally sure about what they wanted, either. . . . a few suggestions on colours that a friend had said they should have . . .
. . .They also wanted some fantastic new wording . . . . but at the same time didn’t really feel that they needed to speak to our wonderful copywriter Gayle at G.E. copywriter either.
. . . Sadly the contract with this particular client has ended with them cancelling our design service agreement as they were unhappy with my FIRST design . . . .
. . . which is a shame, because:
A – They have paid for the work I have done but got nothing to show for it.
B – Design revisions are included within the agreed fee.
C – Your design service journey is a marathon . . . not a sprint. . .
. . . and indeed the design service can be more of an obstacle course or the hurdles . . . before we reach your finish line. . .
Having imagery on your marketing / website / flyers / business cards . . . . . etc . . . is one of the most crucial things you must do . . . .
. . . and quality free images ARE within your reach . . . you do not have an excuse!
An original graphic will sell your story . . . . a great image/emblem (your logo) creates identity.
A photograph will illustrate your message in a flash . . . . that is not restricted by lingual barriers.
A great visual trigger obliterates the need to trawl through a sea of words in a bid to analyse the relevance BEFORE reading.
The right image(s) has instant impact and will therefore grab attention and guarantee 100% focus on your article / flyer / business card / website . . . .
. . . An intriguing shot / unusual angle / bespoke portrayal can be as important as your logo in establishing brand recognition for your business. . . .
. . . So magnify your brand with some royalty free or completely free images . . . Continue reading
How many brands are you familiar with?
There are loads of them . . . . I’ll be a bit predictable here and point out the obvious ones . . . .Apple . . . . Lego . . . Xbox . . Nike. . .
. . .but think as well about a local smaller business that you are familiar with . . . . And when you picture them in your head what do you see?
A: Their company name written in Comic Sans? . . . or
B: A bright colourful logo . . . or a picture of their identity.
If a picture paints a thousand words . . . . your logo is the picture of your business . . . . .which is why you need a logo. . . .
Happy Star Wars Day – May the 4th be with you (sorry couldn’t let it pass even though I am not really a fan).
Anyway – to the blog . . . . .
Thanks to the latest Wild Ideas and DBN project I am now proclaiming Wild Ideas officially an Armani designer.
One of the joys of being a freelance is that you never know what’s around the corner and who you may be designing for next. . . .
. . . being in the right place at the right time . . . and meeting that right person . . . .
means I am proud to have been involved with the launch of Armani’s newest venture . . . .
. . . which is how I became an Armani designer. . . .
In my village of Fradley, Lichfield I have managed to get the word out that I am a graphic designer.
The story of this latest marketing flyer project will give you a few pointers in what to do and what not to do to get the word out.
And as my latest design project is a charity fundraiser for Fradley village, I was happy to do the work for free. . . .
. . . to be fair the request was purely to organise the printing . . . but that was before I saw the “design” they wanted me to replicate.
. . . If something is worth doing then it’s worth doing well. . . .
. . . If you want to get the word out then it needs doing right. . . . Continue reading
